A MAN has been rescued from a burning building in Brighton.
Firefighters saved the man, who has been taken to hospital, and crews are still tackling the blaze at a house in Chesham Place, Kemp Town.
Earlier this afternoon there were six fire engines lined back to back along the narrow road.
Footage showed a cloud of smoke billowing across the street from a lower level of a terraced seafront house.
A witness said firefighters could be seen “vanishing into the smoke” as they attempted to bring the flames under control.
Crews have been using high pressure hoses, breathing apparatus, foam and an aerial ladder to subdue the flames.
The fire service was called just after 4pm. There is now just one engine at the scene, and police have cordoned off the area.
