A RACIST shouted vile abuse and spat at police officers.
Rory McGrail had been wanted by police for failing to complete requirements as part of a suspended sentence.
The 38-year-old was found at Eastgate Square in Chichester by officers.
But McGrail, who was previously jailed for harassing three women and possessing an imitation gun, launched a tirade of abuse. He spat at an officer and claimed he was infected with coronavirus.
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court McGrail, of Longley Road, Chichester, admitted assaulting an emergency worker and racially aggravated public disorder.
He had been serving a suspended sentence for arson at a hostel in March 2019 and for shoplifting. This time District Judge Amanda Kelly jailed him for 14 weeks.
Chief Inspector Jon Carter said; “This man deliberately sought to cause distress to our officers, it is good to know that despicable offending of this type is taken seriously by the courts.”
