A single mother has made her neighbours' lives a misery with late-night shouting, screaming and loud music.

Lucie Ellis, 22, has been the subject of numerous complaints about parties, drunken fights and verbal abuse.

They say Ellis has made their lives a 'total nightmare'.

One neighbour, who asked to remain anonymous, said: "Since she moved in we've had nothing but trouble.

"There's loud music, screaming and shouting. It's a total nightmare.

"The police are round there all the time and it keeps us awake at night.

"She gets bricks and stones thrown through her windows by people she has annoyed and we hear her swearing out of the windows at people in the street.

"I've asked the housing association to find me and my family somewhere else to live. I'm hoping to move soon because it's affecting my health."

Ellis has lived at the first-floor flat at Alexandra House, Macklin Road, Bognor, with her seven-year-old son and three-year-old daughter since 2003.

Hastoe Housing Association, which owns Ellis' flat, took her to court to evict her for breaching her tenancy agreement.

On Friday the association was forced to take the case to the Court of Appeal in London after the case was thrown out of Chichester County Court in May.

At that first hearing, a judge blocked a move by Hastoe to adjourn the proceedings.

The housing association said it had reached an agreement with Ellis that she would behave and asked for the case to be adjourned for two years to see if she could comply.

The judge said it could not be adjourned, criticised Hastoe for not turning up to court ready for trial and dismissed the housing association's possession claim.

At the Court of Appeal on Friday, Lord Justice Mummery, sitting with Lord Justice Longmore, overturned the ruling.

Rebecca Cattermole, representing Hastoe, told the judges there had been "further breaches" of Ellis' tenancy agreement since the May hearing.

She said the housing association would now decide whether to apply again for the case against Ellis to be adjourned on the basis of the agreement to behave or to proceed with a county court bid to evict her.

A spokeswoman for Hastoe said: "Hastoe Housing Association takes all cases of neighbourly disputes seriously and works with all parties involved to reach a suitable solution.

"We are pleased with the outcome of this appeal as we can now progress with resolving this case."

Ellis declined to comment.
