A MAN who threatened a shop owner at knife point has been jailed.
Arturas Matuiza of West Street, Bognor, tried to steal cash from a shop in London Road in Bognor at midday on April 13.
The 22-year-old produced a knife and demanded money but ran off when the owner refused. He was pursued by a community warden and arrested.
Matuiza pleaded guilty to robbery and making threats with a knife at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday and was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison.
Detective Constable Paul Gilmour said: “This man got more than he bargained for, and the resolute and prompt reactions of the owner and the warden, who were both thankfully unhurt, enabled our officers to find Matuiza and ensure he was brought to justice.”
