NO coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Sussex hospitals, according to the latest figures.

Data from NHS England shows there have been no more fatalities from Covid-19 at any hospital operated by a Sussex healthcare trust during the latest reporting period.

The national death toll now stands at 35,341, as a further 545 people died after testing positive for the virus.

This means the number of fatalities across the UK has increased since Monday, when 160 deaths were recorded.

The figures do not include people who have died from coronavirus outside hospitals, such as in care homes.

Of all the trusts across the county, Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, responsible for hospitals supporting Crawley and Horsham areas and parts of East Surrey, has had the highest number of coronavirus deaths with a total of 228.

Brighton and and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, which includes the Royal Sussex County Hospital, has seen 121 people die from the virus.

The total for Western Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust remains the same at 94. No further deaths were recorded at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which has a total of 78.

The total number for Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust stands at 15 deaths.

Across the UK, 248,818 people have now tested positive for coronavirus, which is up 2,412 on yesterday’s figure.

In Brighton and Hove the total number of cases remains the same as yesterday at 408. One further case has been confirmed in East Sussex, bringing the total to 666, and the total for West Sussex remained the same at 1,276.
