THREE more coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Sussex hospitals.

One person has died after testing positive for coronavirus in a hospital run by Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, which brings the total death toll for the trust to 122.

Two more fatalities have been confirmed by Western Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust, bringing the total number to 96.

The figure for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust remained the same as yesterday at 78.

228 deaths have been recorded at hospitals run by Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which covers Crawley, Horsham and parts of East Surrey. The figure remains the same as yesterday.

There were no further deaths recorded at the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, where the total remains at 15.

The data does not include deaths at care homes or in the community.

Nationally there have now been 35,704 Covid-19 associated deaths - an increase of 363 since yesterday. 

Across the UK 2,472 further cases have been confirmed, including one new case in Brighton and Hove, bringing the area’s total to 409.

There was one new case in East Sussex, where the total is 667, and no new cases in West Sussex, which has 1,276.

The UK has a total of 248,293 confirmed cases, which is the fifth highest in the world.
