MORE vehicles will be able to attend household waste recycling sites from tomorrow.

West Sussex County Council said vans and pick-up trucks will be allowed, but residents will need to bring a permit. Trailers are still not allowed, to limit queues and allow for social distancing.

Sites are currently only taking household black bag waste and green garden waste. Residents are asked to attend if waste is not suitable for kerbside collection.

Deborah Urquhart, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “I would like to thank all West Sussex residents for their patience at this time.

“We appreciate it is frustrating not to be able to dispose of waste and I am pleased we are now able to allow vans into the sites.

“Sites are likely to be busy so I would ask residents to consider whether their journey is necessary. If you can continue to safely store items at home, please do so.”
