SEVEN more coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Sussex hospitals.

The latest figures from NHS England show there were three deaths where patients had tested positive for the virus in hospitals run by Western Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust.

That now brings the total number of deaths to 99.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust also recorded three more Covid-19 related deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities at the trust to 232.

The figures do not include deaths in care homes or in the community.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust recorded no further deaths and the total remains the same as yesterday at 122.

The figure for East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust also remains the same as yesterday with a total number of 78.

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 15 deaths and there have been no more fatalities in the latest reporting period.

The total number of Covid-19 related deaths in hospitals across the country now stands at 36,042, which is an increase of 338 since yesterday.

An additional 2,615 cases have been confirmed nationally, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases to 250,908 in the United Kingdom.

In Brighton and Hove, just one more person was confirmed to have the virus, bringing the total number across the city to 410.

In East Sussex two more cases were confirmed, and the total now stands at 669.

West Sussex also confirmed two more cases, bringing the total number to 1,278.
