RESIDENTS heard a “loud bang” as a pickup truck left the road and ploughed through a wall in the early hours.

The Toyota Hilux had been driving along The Esplanade in Bognor when it left the road and smashed into the barrier shortly after 3.20am yesterday.

The truck came to a halt in a car park on the other side of the wall, which was demolished in the incident, Sussex Police have said.

The vehicle’s bumper was destroyed and its doors were badly damaged.
