POLICE received a report of a man claiming he had a gun in a hospital car park.
Officers were called to Crawley Hospital at 1.16pm today, acting on information from a third party.
The force searched the surrounding area but the man has not been found.
Sussex Police said there “will be a high visibility of police in the area” following the report.
But a spokeswoman reassured people in the area, saying “there is not believed to be a threat to the public”.
A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "Sussex Police received a third party report at 1.16pm of a man claiming he had a gun in the car park of Crawley Hospital.
"Officers conducted an area search but the man was not located.
"There will be a high visibility of police in the area but there is not believed to be a threat to the public."
