A MAN who made 999 calls to the police has been ordered to clean up his act.
Shane Stringer, 44, made false reports to officers to waste time.
It included making a false crime report in Upper Rock Gardens, Brighton, to a PC.
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court he admitted the charge of causing wasteful employment of the police, and admitted making numerous bogus calls to the force.
He was also in breach of a community order for assaulting police.
Stringer, of Railway Road, Newhaven, was given a six-month suspended sentence and was told to complete nine months of alcohol treatment.
The court noted that he had made “false reports to give rise to apprehension for the safety of persons or property” and said he had “wasted the time of the emergency services at a time of national emergency”.
