POLICE were called to a city centre street after reports of a fight involving a knife late last night.
Officers attended Western Road in Brighton shortly before 10.30pm and arrested a man on suspicion of being in possession of a bladed article.
Images from the scene show one officer pointing a Taser at a person who is out of shot.
A police car behind him was parked diagonally across the highway nearby, blocking the road outside the Shoe Zone store.
Later, a person in handcuffs with their head covered was seen being escorted to the police car by two officers.
A witness said they heard a “commotion” in the street and saw “a policeman with a Taser make the arrest”.
They also said they had seen a knife "being bagged up for evidence”.
But Sussex Police have said that there were no injuries reported as a result of the altercation, and the force is now appealing for witnesses as they look to establish the events leading up to last night's incident.
A spokeswoman said: "Police were called to Western Road at 10.20pm on Sunday to reports of an altercation involving a knife.
"A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a bladed article. He remains in custody for questioning.
"No injuries were reported.
"Anyone who witnessed what happened can report online or call 101, quoting serial 1640 of 24/05."
