NO CORONAVIRUS deaths have been reported in Sussex hospitals and only two new cases have been declared in the county.

In the UK, 134 people died in the 24 hours leading up to 5pm on Monday, compared with 121 casualties recorded the day before.

The national hospital death toll is now 37,048 and 265,227 people have tested positive for the virus in Britain.

No patients died of the virus at hospital trusts in Sussex, keeping the death toll at 559.

There were no deaths at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, which operates the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. There have been 123 deaths at these hospitals.

No deaths were recorded at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs hospitals in Eastbourne, Bexhill, and St Leonards. The death toll remains at 80.

No fatalities were confirmed by Western Sussex Hospitals Foundation Trust, responsible for hospitals in Shoreham, Worthing, and Chichester. The total stands at 101.

The death toll remained at 240 at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, while at Sussex Community Foundation Trust the number remains at 15.

The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Sussex increased by two to 2,426.

Both new cases were diagnosed in West Sussex, where the number of infected stands at 1,316.

The Brighton and Hove total remains at 421, while the East Sussex total stands at 689.
