IT IS NO surprise to me that Dominic Cummings considers laws, that the general public are expected to observe, do not apply to him.

It is also no surprise that the Government and the majority of the Conservative party condone, and are prepared to provide cover for, his irresponsible and selfish behaviour.

It is a little disappointing that some “scientists”, albeit a tiny majority, are prepare to endorse the party line but I do welcome MPs like Tim Loughton putting the needs of the country ahead of party advantage.

I agree with, what appears to be, a majority of experts that the recent announcements that the rules on lockdown, isolation, social distancing and even the Highway Code are subject to “discretion” could lead to many more people “interpreting” those rules to satisfy their personal convenience rather than the needs of the community.

In order to try and minimise the damage that this episode will cause please could I urge Mr Loughton and other local MPs to work together as a matter of urgency to rewrite the coronavirus legislation so that it is made clear that the rules, that most of us have been observing to date, do actually apply to everyone.
