PEOPLE are mistaken when claiming the Dominic Cummings affair will cause lasting damage to the Government.

Boris Johnson has a majority of 80 in the House of Commons.

Therefore, his Government is unlikely to lose a vote of confidence. So a general election is not likely for another four years.

The British public are suffering from election fatigue.

If we include the Brexit referendum we have had four major votes in five years.

The opposition parties are in no state to seriously challenge Government policy.

Sir Keir Starmer has a lot to do to make Labour electable.

His front bench is devoid of “big hitters”.

People like Hilary Benn, Stephen Kinnock and others are on the back benches.

The left wing Momentum group will not go away without a fight.

As history shows infighting in political parties can be bloody.

The Liberal Democrats are now a farce.

They will never be a governing party in their own right. They are to inconsistent in their policies and actions.

In 2010 they entered a coalition with the Conservatives. The reality of government was an eye opener to them.

They had to accept hard decisions which had to be made in the national interest.

After their poor performance in 2015 the party vowed never to join a coalition with the Conservatives again.

This means the only party they would support would be Labour.

This effectively means a vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote for Labour.

The Dominic Cummings affair will quickly be forgotten.

He will simply maintain a low profile while still advising the Prime Minister.

In the meantime the public is more interested in finding out when lockdown will end.

They are more concerned with when will the pubs re-open and when will football resume.
