YOUR report that migrant crossings' are becoming a major threat' to the UK border (Argus, May 22) raises significant issues of security in addition to the human right of seeking asylum from persecution under the Geneva Convention.
However, it is ironic how our values change when the problems arrive on our own doorstep.
While efforts may be under way to return the recent boat people back to France under the aegis of the peculiarly-named Operation Sillath; these moves contrast sharply to when Boris Johnson was campaigning in South Thanet against a certain Nigel Farage, which earned the Times headline 'Boris Johnson tells PM' UK has moral duty to help boat migrants' (Times April 211 2015).
