FIREFIGHTERS have been called to a fire in a top floor flat.
Firefighters in an aerial platform were hosing water into the third floor flat in Lansdowne Place, off Western Road, Hove at about 8pm this evening
Dozens of onlookers gathered to watch with police and ambulance crew also in attendance.
A firefighter attached the hose to a water supply in the road to extinguish the flames in the building.
Smoke could be seen billowing from the flat as an ambulance crew rushed up the road with a stretcher.
A Sussex Police spokesman has since confirmed that no one was in the building and there have been no reported casualties.
Sussex Police were called to help the fire brigade at 7.54pm.
A spokesman for the force said road closures have been put in place in Lansdowne Place, Holland Road and Western Road.
However, buses are still travelling along Western Road.

A passerby said: “We heard loads of sirens and went outside to see lots of people in the street.
“The road was blocked with four fire engines and an ambulance.
“There was loads of smoke coming from the flat, we hope everyone is okay.”
