A MAN was charged on suspicion of robbery at a village shop.
Officers were called to the Co-op in The Square in Westbourne on May 24 at 6.25pm.
There were reports of a man going into the shop with a machete and stealing cash from the till. Police carried out forensics searches at the store. Now they have charged Sam Hewett, 30, of Renown Gardens, Waterlooville, with robbery.
Hewett was to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court today to face the charge, and the case is expected to go to the crown court.
