A COUPLE who scooped a huge lottery jackpot want to boost security at their estate after reports of a violent break-in.
Dave and Angela Dawes won the Euromillions lottery in 2011, with a share of more than £100 million.
The couple bought the 55-acre Socknersh Manor in Burwash, worth £4 million.
It was previously owned by singers Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck.
National newspapers including The Sun and The Daily Mail reported that the Dawes were the victims of a violent break-in, where £20,000 was taken and they were tied up.
Mr Dawes was struck in the face as thieves took cash and jewels before escaping in the couple’s Range Rover, it was reported.
But it is claimed there was insufficient evidence to prosecute any suspects over the incident.
After the incident the couple set up seven CCTV cameras on the estate.
They wanted to boost security, but had not applied for planning permission.
So documents now with Rother District Council show the couple’s plan to set up
the cameras around their estate.
In an objection, neighbour Jane Olsen says one column invades her privacy.
