More than £1 million has been lost to fraudsters preying on vulnerable people in Sussex amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Scammers typically pose as representatives from companies offering investment opportunities and cheat people out of their money over the phone or on social media.
Last month police recorded 20 cases of investment fraud against vulnerable people and a total loss of £1,208,864 in the county.
One woman from Ferring, near Worthing, handed over a £75,000 cheque to men who falsely claimed to be from BlackRock investment company.
Police are urging victims to beware and report crime online or by calling 101.
