A DRUG dealer was stopped because he was driving without insurance or a licence.

Andi Dema was travelling in a silver Ford C-Max in Dyke Road, Hove when the vehicle was picked up on a police surveillance system.

An automatic number plate recognition camera showed he was an uninsured driver.

Police stopped the 31-year-old in Highdown Road nearby, and found containers with cocaine in the door pocket of the car.

Officers have warned others that they are being “relentless” in the hunt to catch drug dealers and other criminals too.

Dema, of Denmark Villas, Hove, also had £1,000 in cash and four mobile phones in his possession.

The drug dealer admitted possessing class A drugs with intent to supply,

He also admitted driving without insurance and driving without a licence at Lewes Crown Court.

He was jailed for two years and eight months.

Detective Sergeant Chris Lane said: “We are relentless in our continuing pursuit and effort to get drug dealers off the streets of Brighton and Hove.

“There is no doubt in my mind that Dema posed a risk to the local community.

“We hope this sends a clear message to those who are concerned in the supply of harmful and illegal substances that they are not above the law.

“We will find you and we will catch you.”
