PARKING charges will be brought back when shops reopen.

Horsham District Council will resume parking fees in its car parks from Monday, the day stores are allowed to let customers through their doors.

The council said it has been losing £750,000 of income a month after it scrapped fees in March.

But it will continue to allow NHS and care staff to park free.

“With lockdown restrictions being relaxed and people now able to travel freely, the pressure on street parking spaces has decreased significantly,” parking chief Councillor Paul Clarke said.

“We need to take action to try to restore our income as soon as possible.

“Parking charges will help us to manage the demand for parking and ensure there is regular turnover of space.”
