A ROYAL Air Force plane was spotted flying over Sussex.

The Airbus A400M Atlas flew over Lancing and East Worthing yesterday at about 2.30pm.

The aircraft, which measures more than 45 metres in length, then passed low over Shoreham Airport, where it turned to head north towards Edinburgh.

The Argus:

Residents impressed by the sight took videos of the plane as it glided overhead, including Steven Carlberg, who captured the plane as it headed towards Shoreham Airport.

According to the RAF Brize Norton station, the flight was part of essential training and was not connected with the fight against coronavirus.

The airbus has a wingspan of 42 metres and can accomodate as many as 116 fully-equipped troops and vehicles including a Chinook, with the ability to operate at altitudes of 40,000ft.
