THE consumption of “dangerous” blue pills have left a number of people seriously ill in hospital and police are now appealing for anyone with any information about them to come forward.

Police say several people had to be taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton on Friday night after coming down with similar symptoms.

It has sparked fears of a bad batch of drugs which may have been sold in the city.

Inspector Lawrence McAndrew said: “We are aware of blue pills circulating in the Brighton area.

“We have reason to believe these dangerous tablets may be linked to a number of patients being admitted to hospital.

“We would like to remind everyone of the dangers of taking unknown pills, and to strongly advise anyone to safely dispose of any of these tablets they may have in their possession.”

Anyone with information about the illnesses or the supply of the tablets should report it on the Sussex Police website or alternatively they are asked call 101 and quote 161 of 20/06.

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
