A ROBBER attacked a woman in a park before making off with her dog lead.

He targeted the 33-year-old as she walked her pet in Alexandra Park, Hastings, on Wednesday evening.

Police have speculated that the thief snatched the dog lead because he had mistaken it for a handbag.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Investigator Bernadette Peters said: “This was an awful incident which has left the victim understandably shaken.

“We are currently treating this as an isolated incident and are keen to hear from anyone who may have information.
