Budding bakers showing off their skills of transforming local landmarks into tasty treats could be in line to win £100.

Leakers Bakery has donated prizes for the #BakeBridport competition, offering £100 for the winner and £25 for the runner up.

Museum director Emily Hicks said: “A massive thank you to Leakers for these fabulous prizes.

“We have been encouraging people to shop local and support all our wonderful independent shops.

“I’m already enjoying seeing what people are coming up with.”

The rules of #BakeBridport are to bake and decorate a cake inspired by a Bridport building or landmark or your favourite Bridport Museum object. Take a photograph or a short video to share your creation and post it on social media, tagging the museum by using @bridportmuseum and including the hashtag #BakeBridport.

Caroline Parkins owns Leakers Bakery - which is over 100 years old after being started by G.S. Leaker in 1914 - and is also one of the competition judges.

She said: “Leakers is really proud to support #BakeBridport. We share with Bridport Museum a passion for supporting our local community and we love this idea.

“We are looking forward to seeing more of your bakes.”

Cake entries can be posted any time until June 30 and you can visit bridportmuseum.co.uk for a list of local places to buy ingredients.
