A YOUNG boy was rescued from rising tides after getting his leg stuck in some rocks.
The 12-year-old had been clambering on the rock armour on the west side of Selsey yesterday afternoon, where he had become trapped.
A Selsey RNLI lifeboat was launched to assist the Selsey Coastguard rescue team at 2pm.
The boy had managed to free his leg when they arrived and had climbed higher up the rocks, away from the breaking waves.
The Coastguard team used a basket stretcher to safely transfer the youngster onto a lifeboat and take him to the beach for casualty care.
An ambulance was called to check on the boy and he was taken home safely.
In a statement on their Facebook page, the Selsey RNLI Lifeboat station said: "The two friends of the trapped boy did exactly the right thing calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard, so well done to them."
