A SINGER who won Britain’s Got Talent has been releasing a song every day during lockdown after recovering from coronavirus.

Richard Hadfield, who won the ITV show with his musical theatre vocal group Collabro in 2014, has been releasing his A Song a Day Keeps Corona Away videos on YouTube and Instagram for more than two months.

The singer, who grew up in Portslade, has also started a crowdfunding campaign to raise money to upgrade his home recording studio and was “blown away” when he raised more than £2,000 within 12 hours.

He said: “I started recording my videos on March 23, after fully recovering from coronavirus myself.

“I was keen to battle the pandemic of loneliness and wanted to do something proactive which would both entertain people at home and allow me to bridge the gap in these isolated times.

“I’m really proud of the reach of the project and the feedback of thousands of people who have enjoyed the series all over the world.

“Hopefully, I’ll be able to able to perform to many of them in person before long.”

Richard’s videos, which include recordings of songs such as The Confrontation from Les Miserables, have had more than 200,000 views.

Richard has raised more than £7,000 so far and is aiming to go out on tour if he can reach his £10,000 target. To donate, go to crowdfunder.co.uk/song-a-day-keeps-corona-away.
