ONE more person in Sussex has died after catching coronavirus, according to the latest figures.

Data from NHS England shows one fatality was recorded in a hospital run by East Sussex Healthcare NHS trust during the latest reporting period.

It brings the total death number of Covid-19-related deaths within the trust to 87.

No other deaths were recorded at other Sussex healthcare trusts.

Across the county, Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has recorded the highest number of deaths during the pandemic, at 256.

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 18 deaths, Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 112 and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust has recorded 144.

The total figure for coronavirus-related deaths in Sussex now stands at 617.

The fatality at East Sussex Healthcare Trust was one of 25 deaths recorded nationally, according to data from Public Health England, bringing the total death toll across the UK to 43,575.

There were 815 additional cases recorded yesterday and the total number of confirmed UK cases is now 311, 965.

One new case was confirmed in East Sussex, where there are now 780 cases.

The figure remains the same as yesterday for Brighton and Hove at 489.

West Sussex also recorded no additional cases and the total number remains at 1,378.
