NO coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Sussex hospitals today, latest figures show.

Data from NHS England shows no fatalities at any hospital trusts in the county.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has recorded the highest number of coronavirus-related deaths during the pandemic, at 256.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust has recorded 144 deaths and Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 112.

Meanwhile East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has reported 87 deaths to date and Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 18.

These figures do not include deaths outside hospitals, for instance those in care homes.

Nationally, Public Health England reported 155 deaths today, bringing the total death toll across the UK to 43,730.

Public Health England reported 689 new cases yesterday.

The total number of confirmed UK cases is now 312,654.

One new case was reported in Brighton and Hove yesterday, bringing the total in the city to 490.

And two new cases were confirmed in East Sussex, where 782 cases have been reported to date.

But West Sussex recorded no additional cases.

The total number of infections in the county remains at 1,378.
