A GOGGLEBOX star is excited to be reopening his hair salon today – and he is looking to recruit a new team member .

Stephen Webb, who runs the Lustig and Webb hair salon in Hurstpierpoint with his husband Daniel Lustig, said the pair are looking for another hairdresser to join their community and work with “a really eclectic clientele”.

Stephen, who has been a fixture on the Channel 4 show since it began in 2013, has been running his salon for almost six years.

The 48-year-old said: “It’s been such an amazing little business and we’ve got a great clientele.

“We feel that some people may not think they’re going to earn much in a village, but that’s nonsense because you do – and they may think it’s only people of a certain age who come in here, but there’s a really buzzy evening life in Hurstpierpoint – the pubs and restaurants are normally always busy.

“It took me some convincing to open a salon there at first, rather than in Brighton, but we decided to go with it and never looked back.”

Stephen and Daniel have spent the past week getting the salon ready to open safely today. The pair will have their hands full for the next few weeks as they are completely booked up until mid-August.

Stephen said: “We’re only having one client in at a time and there will be aprons, gloves and masks for people to wear.

“We’ve had a trial run with all the PPE on and I think it’s going to be quite steamy for me as I wear glasses under my face shield, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

“It’s going to be extra work as we’ll be cleaning in between each person, but we just really want to get back to it now.

“I’m so over lockdown – the first few weeks we were going out for runs and getting nice sun tans but then that all went out the window and we’ve just been eating too much chocolate.

“I think it’s going to be a really good atmosphere on Saturday and we’re really looking forward to it.”

Stephen and Daniel are set to return to screens in the 16th series of Gogglebox this autumn, which was partly filmed during lockdown.

Stephen said: “There were no crew in our house so it was just us watching TV, the way it should be.Viewing figures during lockdown also went through the roof and we’re delighted to have been nominated for a Bafta.”
