TWO more coronavirus deaths have been confirmed at Sussex hospitals, according to the latest figures.

Data from NHS England shows two more fatalities were confirmed by Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust during the latest reporting period, bringing the trust’s total to 146 deaths.

Figures for coronavirus deaths at other hospital trusts in Sussex all remained the same as yesterday.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has reported 87, West Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 133, and Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has reported 257, while Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust has recorded 18 deaths.

Nationally, 137 fatalities were recorded where Covid-19 was listed on death certificates, bringing the UK death toll to 44,131.

Public Health England has now changed the way it reports on positive cases, to remove duplicates across swab test results from inside hospitals and test results from the wider population.

It means the figures have been revised, and the national total for positive cases stands at 284,276, with an additional 544 cases reported today.

The total number of positive cases in Brighton and Hove is 765, which is 275 more than was previously reported.

East Sussex has 1,480 cases, now that test results from the community are included, which is almost double the number of cases reported on Wednesday.

West Sussex has the highest number of confirmed cases, at 2,683.
