DURING this period of lockdown, my husband and I have been isolating as requested.

As we all know, places of business have been closed and staff dismissed or put on furlough.

Obviously money has been in short supply for a lot of people and will continue to be so for a long time to come unfortunately.

During this time of lockdown, my husband and I have been watching a lot more television.

We have been amazed at the number of adverts requesting donations for all types of charities.

One evening, during one hour, the total of “requests” came to £50. While I have been typing this letter, one request alone was for £30.

While we fully understand that times are hard for everyone, we ask, where is the money going to come from to support all these well deserving charities?

We fear that life will never be the same again for any of us.

The sooner more people realise the severity of our present situation, the better for us all.

If not, and we have another complete lockdown, we feel that, as a nation, we will never recover.
