A POPULAR farmers’ market will be back in action this Saturday.

Shoreham Farmers’ Market will return on Saturday for the first time since coronavirus lockdown began in March.

But instead of taking place in narrow East Street, the market has been moved to the Tarmount Lane car park to ensure visitors can observe social distancing.

The market will also have fewer stalls than before and will only open between 10am and 2pm.

Adur District Council environment chief Councillor Emma Evans said officers had taken their time to ensure the market could open safely.

“The narrow nature of East Street will make social distancing difficult,” she said.

“However, the nearby car park just two minutes walk from the high street is an obvious solution and we look forward to inviting everyone back to sample the great produce that our traders have to offer.

“We know how important and valued the award-winning Adur Markets are to supporting our high streets which is why we’ve been looking at all options to ensure they can return.

“The safety of our team, traders and those attending the markets is paramount which is why we took time to get this right.”

The market is also scheduled to take place on July 25.

Meanwhile in Lancing a Halloween-themed market has been scheduled for October. To keep up to date with upcoming markets visit the Adur Markets Facebook page.
