Tributes have been paid to the 87-year-old grandmother who died after she was assaulted in Reigate last month.

Rosemary Hill, 87, was described as a "talented musician" who taught clarinet at Reigate Grammar School after a career as a professional in the music industry.

A statement from Rosemary's family and released by Surrey Police, who are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death, said that she was involved in the Reigate and Redhill Music Festival and still played with the Surrey Yeomanry Band before her death.

"Rosemary Hill, formerly Few was a talented musician. After a professional career, she taught clarinet at Reigate Grammar School until her retirement and was also involved in the Reigate and Redhill Music Festival.

"She continued to perform with the Surrey Yeomanry Band.

"She had recently been widowed but was looking forward to spending more time with her children, Debbie, Richard and Jonathan and her grand-daughter Nancy," the statement read.

As reported previously, Rosemary died in hospital after she was attacked on Warren Road in Reigate at 5.40pm on Sunday (June 21).

Police are continuing to appeal for information about the attack, with the identity of the assailant not yet confirmed, under the codename Operation Baritone.

"Detectives are continuing to investigate the assault that took place on Warren Road in Reigate at 5:40pm on Sunday 21 June.
