HOMES have been left without water due to a burst water main.

South East Water estimated work to repair the water main in the Denton area of Newhaven could last until 1pm.

This is affecting a large area stretching from the east of Newhaven to Bishopstone in the west, and from Tarring Nevill in the north to Seahaven in the south.

The Argus:

A spokesman for the company said: "Customers in this area may be experiencing low water pressure or no water during busy demand periods of water usage.

"This has been caused by a burst water main which we are trying to fix as quickly as we can.

"As soon as the repairs have been completed, water will return to normal."

While estimating that work would be completed by 1pm, the spokesman said the company "can't say just yet how long this (repair work) will take".

He added: "Rest assured we're doing everything we can to get you back up and running as soon as possible."
