POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man and women were seen fighting outside a department store.

Officers were called to Robertson Street in Hastings shortly before 7pm on Sunday to deal with the incident.

The altercation is believed to have happened outside the Debenhams store, near the junction with Havelock Road.

A 38-year-old man from Bromley in London has been detained in relation to the incident.

He was arrested on suspicion of common assault and has been released on conditional bail until August 2 pending further enquiries.

Sussex Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are urging any witnesses to the fight, or anyone who has any information on the altercation, to come forward.
