ONE of the biggest High Street retailers has announced 4,000 job cuts.
Boots said thousands of jobs were due to be axed amid plans to restructure its head office and store teams.
There are 48 Boots Optician stores which are set to be shut down.
There are two stores in Brighton, one in North Street and another in London Road, however it is not yet known if these are part of the restructure.
Boots has been contacted for comment.
The plans come amid warnings that Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s economic support plans will not be enough to stop millions from losing their jobs.
His new measures include a one-off payment to employers for every worker furlough which are retained to the end of January 2012.
