SHOPPERS are reporting a large police presence in Brighton city centre.

Officers were seen inside the H&M store in Churchill Square shortly before 3pm.

A witness said there were nine police cars parked nearby in Western Road.

Another reported three cars were currently parked in North Street.

Mark Buchanan Smith, centre director for Churchill Square, said: "We can confirm Sussex Police attended Churchill Square this afternoon in order to deal with an incident they were attending to outside the centre.

"Churchill Square remained open and continues to trade business as usual."
