THE number of coronavirus cases has risen in all areas of Sussex, according to latest figures.

The total number is now 5,026 in the county.

But no coronavirus deaths were reported in Sussex hospitals yesterday.

There have been 628 deaths of Covid-19 patients at hospitals in the county.

At Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust 147 deaths have been reported to date, while at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust the death toll remains at 90.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has reported the most deaths in the county during the pandemic, a total of 259.

The death tolls for Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (113) and Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (18) have not increased since Friday.

But the number of cases rose in all areas of Sussex.

The greatest increase was in East Sussex, where the figure climbed by eight from 1,530 to 1,538.

The West Sussex total rose by two, reaching 2,712, while the Brighton and Hove number increased by one to 776.

Nationally, there were 11 coronavirus deaths confirmed between 5pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday.

These take the nationwide total to 44,830.

There have now been 290,133 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the UK.
