A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm during a Black Lives Matter protest.
Police issued an appeal for information after the incident which was one of the largest demonstrations ever in Brighton and Hove.
Thousands had gathered on the seafront and marched to The Level last month.
But officers were called to probe an attack during the protest on someone not connected to it. The victim was taken to hospital and needed surgery.

Now Sussex Police said a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm on the 49-year-old victim and was released on bail until August 8.
Detective Inspector Ian Still said: “We would like to thank those members of public who came forward with information after seeing our appeal.”
