FATBOY Slim is to join a line-up of house and techno DJs at a European festival this September.

Norman Cook, who lives in Hove, is among the latest names announced to play at the BPM Festival in Malta.

The country has recorded low rates of coronavirus, with nine deaths and 674 confirmed cases since the pandemic began.

Its international airport reopened on July 1 for tourists from 22 countries and as of today, Malta is now open to tourists from the UK.

No quarantine is required for British visitors and all hotels, bars, restaurants, clubs and beaches are open, with stringent procedures in place around social distancing and testing.

Fatboy Slim will join dance artists including Jamie Jones, Eats Everything and Skream for the festival at the open air club Uno Malta.

Organisers say there will also be three stages hidden among trees with “wide-open spaces”.

The festival is a part of a series of cultural events produced with the Maltese Tourist Authority, Visit Malta and 356 Productions, scheduled for this summer.

BPM festival is due to take place from Friday, September 11, until Sunday, September 13. Tickets are £174 for general admission and £210 for VIP passes, which include fast track entry to the beach venue and access to VIP bars and toilets.
