INTRODUCING the bride and grr-oom.
Two fashionable pooches are set to have a wedding fit for a king spaniel in designer outfits worth thousands of pounds.
They are being created by Hove doggy fashion designer Rachelle Fawcett – of Furdrobe – who is overseeing the holy matrimony of white chihuahua Romeo and maltipoo Delilah.
Romeo is “barking mad” for his American sweetheart Delilah, who lives in Palm Beach, Florida.
A ceremony for the pair of pampered pooches, who have only met virtually so far, is to be held at Brighton’s bandstand next year. It was planned for this September until the coronavirus outbreak spoilt things.
Instead there will be a virtual ceremony, followed by the “real thing” in 2021.
Ms Fawcett, whose company was featured in Channel 4’s The World’s Most Expensive Presents, said: “Romeo ‘met’ Delilah as she models for me and they fell in love.
“They have already had their engagement photos done – they’re barking mad for each other.”
Both dogs are set to walk down the aisle in style, with Romeo’s jacket alone costing more than £5,000.
Each piece of the outfit will be made by doggy fashion guru Ms Fawcett using Swarovski crystals.
Ms Fawcett said: “Delilah was flying over from Palm Beach in September to marry Romeo in the bandstand, then we organised an afternoon at The Grand. She was bringing bridesmaids from across America. Romeo is bringing groomsmen, the best man is his brother Reggie.
“My best friend said she could do the service and has practised it before.
“Her boyfriend is actually ordained but when he was asked he said ‘no way am I marrying dogs’.”
Ms Fawcett started Furdrobe three years ago, making ballgowns for dogs. One of her dresses is estimated to be worth £52,000.
