THREE suspected drug dealers were arrested after tip-offs from the public.

One witness saw a drug deal taking place in Westbourne Street, Hove and phoned the police.

Officers then found a man matching the description of their suspect in Portland Road nearby.

He was stopped and searched and found to have class A drugs on Friday, July 10.

There were further reports of deals being done in Portland Road on Wednesday, and officers spotted a man acting suspiciously. He matched CCTV footage from a business who reported him for dealing drugs.

The suspect ran off but was chased and caught.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.

Meanwhile a second man aged 37 was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and money laundering. When searched police found pepper spray and £3,500 in cash on the man.

Chief Inspector Dee Wells has encouraged people to continue to report drug dealing and crime.

Police said 21-year-old Daniel Baigent, of Seafield Road, Hove, was charged with possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply. He will appear at Lewes Crown Court on August 10.

The 37-year-old man from London was released under investigation and a 38-year-old remains in custody.
