TWO men shouted racist abuse and assaulted a man in an unprovoked attack outside a supermarket.

Police were called to the incident at the Tesco store in Hazelwick, Crawley on July 1.

The victim reported being approached by two men in a white Transit van. One got out and punched him, knocking his glasses off.

Officers say the victim had gone to the store to buy gifts for a family birthday and was left shaken and upset by the incident.

They have released CCTV of the suspects. One is a white man wearing black trousers, a white T-shirt and a black baseball cap.

The other is a white man wearing a high-viz vest, blue jeans and white T-shirt, who has short brown hair and dark eyebrows.

Sussex Police investigator Jools Whittaker-Jones said the incident happened at 4.5pm and said: “There were a lot of shoppers around at the time of this incident who would have been aware of the shouting.
