A FAST food chain has confirmed it is looking to open a new Brighton site.

A representative for McDonald's said the company was currently "looking at an opportunity" at a site near the Asda superstore in Hollingbury.

He said no further details were available yet.

However, it is possible the new site could follow in the footsteps of the McDonald's at Brighton Marina - which is also next to an Asda superstore.

The Argus:

That site operates 24 hour drive-through services as well as in-store seating and ordering from 6am until midnight, seven days a week.

The demand for McDonald's in Brighton and Hove was clear to see when the Brighton Marina restaurant reopened its drive-through on June 3 after several weeks of enforced closure due to the coronavirus lockdown.

The Argus:

Large queues built up ahead of the shutters being raised, with a heightened demand continuing for several weeks afterwards.

As a result, bus services were disrupted at the marina site and at the McDonald's store in nearby Shoreham as fans flocked to pick up their favourite takeaway.
