KATIE Price said her son Harvey is "on the road to recovery" after a difficult few days in intensive care.

The 18-year-old was taken to hospital on July 12 after struggling to breathe.

Katie told New Magazine: "Normally when people are rushed to hospital they go to the emergency room, but Harvey went straight to the resuscitation room.

“Suddenly eight doctors were around him.”

She said it was a "horrible and awful" experience, but has reassured fans that Harvey is now on the mend.

The Argus:

Though he is not yet able to leave the hospital, Brighton-born Katie said Harvey had been "on good form" when she visited him.

But the mum-of-five and ex-glamour model said she had received some backlash from people on social media for not spending all her time at the hospital with her son.

Sharing an update on his condition with her fans through her YouTube channel this week, the 42-year-old said: "Harvey has been in hospital for the past five days and I can't visit him for the whole time because you are not allowed to and because of Covid.

"In between when I see him I am doing stuff that I need to do. For example last night I went blonde and then today I am going to go and ride my horse and then go and have a sunbed (session) so I feel a bit like me.

The Argus:

"And then I want to go and see my Mr Harvey Price.

"Then it all starts again. I have a break, then go back later and I'll see if I can Facetime him.

"A lot of people are saying 'you should be with Harvey'. Yeah, I should be, but I'm not allowed.

"It's as simple as that."

She said she was there whenever she could be, but there were limited visiting hours at the Surrey hospital where he is being treated.

Katie, who is currently renovating her Horsham mansion so she can sell it, also gave an update on Harvey's condition.

The Argus:

She said: "He's still not coming out of hospital. They've discovered things about him and I'm not ready to reveal what they are.

"But they have discovered things which is why he is still in hospital."

Harvey suffers from an underactive thyroid and diabetes, as well as Prader-Willi Syndrome.

This is a rare genetic condition with symptoms including an excessive appetite, weight gain, learning difficulties and weak muscles.

But Katie did say his condition had now improved.

She said: "He has turned a corner. He is now talking, he is absolutely fine.

The Argus:

"Obviously they (hospital staff)are doing what they need to do with him and he is not going to come out yet.

"But, in his attitude, I have got my Harvey Price back. He is on form, and that's why I'm smiling."

On Sunday, the former I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here contestant shared a video of her visit to the hospital to see Harvey, accompanied by children Jett, six, and Bunny, five.

She has also been joined by former husband Peter Andre during a visit to the hospital to lift Harvey's spirits.
