ONE person has died after testing positive for coronavirus.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust reported one coronavirus death today, according to data from NHS England.

It is the first time a death has been reported by any trust operating in Sussex since the weekend.

The trust, which is responsible for services in Crawley, Horsham and parts of East Surrey, has recorded the highest number of deaths in the county at 260.

The figures remain the same for Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust (148), Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust (113), East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (97) and Sussex Community Foundation Trust (18).

Across the UK, 79 more people died after testing positive for Covid-19, bringing the total death toll to 45,501.

It is a decrease of 31 on yesterday’s figure.

Nine more cases have been confirmed in Sussex. Four were reported in East Sussex, which has 1,584, and five in West Sussex, which has 2,759.

No new cases have been reported in Brighton and Hove since Monday, and the total stands at 786.

Nationally, 560 more cases were reported, bringing the UK total to 296,377.
