FORECASTERS have warned there could be torrential downpours over the weekend.
Rain is set to sweep in from the west across the country on Saturday.
The Met Office says there is a chance of some showers over Brighton and Hove and Sussex in the early morning.
But heavy downpours are expected to begin from 2pm, and could bring torrential downpours into the late afternoon.
Thunderstorms have been forecast in the English Channel and these could affect the Sussex coast from Chichester to Hastings at 4pm.
It may be bad news for many seafront businesses which are relying on sunshine to help recoup the losses of the coronavirus lockdown.
Temperatures will remain at 17C tonight and will rise to about 18C tomorrow.
There is a chance of an early evening washout, while on Sunday the weather will be more settled with sunny spells.
