TWO Sussex councils have been shortlisted as the best in the country.

Adur and Worthing Councils have been jointly nominated for trade magazine Municipal Journal’s Council of the Year award.

The magazine said they have an “innovative, data-led approach to delivering local services that make a difference to residents”.

Worthing Borough Council leader Councillor Daniel Humphreys was delighted by the nomination.

Adur District Council leader Councillor Neil Parkin said the announcement was impressive as the two councils have already been nominated for the same award at this year’s Local Government Chronicle Awards.

“For a council of our size to be named twice in a year by two leading journals is praise indeed,” he said.
